MELISSA LANGEN is a glass artist from Regina, SK. She is originally from Prince George, BC, in 2001 her family move to Swift Current, SK and in 2010 she relocated to Regina for work. Shortly after moving to Regina she discovered lampwork classes at the Neil Balkwill Civic Arts Centre and fell in love with making her own beads. Over the years she has taken many lampwork class at the centre, and even gone down to the states to learn from glass artists there. In the beginning she gave away beads to family and friends. Eventually making her beads into jewelry and selling them. In 2021 she joined the Jewelry Artist Guild of Regina in the hopes of reaching a wider audience and to learn from the other members of the guild.
She has also been taking classes in fine silver fusing, and has plans to incorporate it with her glass beads.
Melissa is also a contributing artist for the Beads Of Courage program. Beads of Courage is an arts-in-medicine program that helps children cope with serious illnesses by helping them record, tell, and own their story of courage through beads. Each bead represents an element of their treatment journey.
