Who We Are
Where It All Began
Before it was a guild, The Jewellery Artists Guild of Regina began life as JewelleryWon. In 2008, four aspiring jewellery artists: Laura Steadman, Laurie Walton, Vanessa Wiens and Brenda Wolf, met while attending a Jewellery Level One class together. Once the class was over they decided to keep in touch and update each other on projects they were working on, share new ideas, and just catch up on life in general. The idea of starting a group to help showcase their designs was born. The name JewelleryWon was perfect. They met in Jewellery Level One and the love of making jewellery "won" them over. Over the years, JewelleryWon evolved and we built up a community for jewellery artists as well as a wonderful following of customers. These wonderful people have come to look forward our shows and make a point of attending. Two more shows “Harvest Hues” and “Sparkle!” were added as the number of interested vendors grew. Transition from a collective to a guild seemed the next logical step. It has been a dream from early on and the time just seemed right. 2022 Board Chair: Elaine Gohlke Treasurer: Maria Hendrika Secretary: Deb Potter Member-At-Large: Laura Steadman Member-At-Large: Kit Kroszer Our Goals Continuous Learning We offer learning opportunities to our members through collaboration, discussion, workshops and artist talks. We promote the exchange of creative and technical knowledge among members and encourage development of best practices in business and artistic pursuits. Networking Jewellery Artists Guild of Regina members meet regularly to share ideas and discuss current topics of interest. Meetings focus on building a community of jewellery artists through knowledge, camaraderie, support and encouragement. Promoting the work of our Members We organize and promote two or more show/sales each year, as well as seeking opportunities for guild representation at gallery shows and other outlets. A show/sale not only promotes the work of our members, it offers an opportunity to communicate to the public, the skill and vision of members when they create their unique wearable art. |
