Working primarily with silver, enamel, and semiprecious stones, Monica combines elements of color, texture, and curved forms in her jewellery. She enjoys creating one-of-a-kind pieces that complement the personal style of women who appreciate elegant, classic designs in a contemporary setting.
Monica began studying metalsmithing in 2017 under the guidance of Melody Armstrong at the Neil Balkwill Centre. Her intention was to explore jewellery making as a creative pursuit after working over 40 years as a financial analyst and then as personal growth facilitator/teacher.
Monica’s initial draw to jewellery making was a curiosity about how jewellery is made.
“I’m fascinated by tools and how they are used to create beautiful objects. My love of tools comes from my father, who taught me how to fix common household things. On the creative side, beauty has always been very important to me – in fabric, clothing, art, nature, and interior décor. I love color, texture, and curved forms and enjoy combining these elements in my jewellery work.”
